What is Nutritional Therapy

Today, many illnesses, including chronic long term conditions, are accepted to be the result of lifestyle choices. Using the latest nutritional science, nutritional therapy works to restore nutrient imbalances in the body.

The process of nutritional therapy is a complex web of interconnected factors. Every individual will have their own unique health state and it is the challenge of the nutritional therapist to consider how multiple factors are contributing to the symptoms being experienced and work out the root cause.  Therefore, nutritional therapy  should provide personalised solutions.   Nutrition is only one piece of the jigsaw puzzle, but it is a vitally important one.  For more details of the peices of the jigsaw puzzle please see (link to lifestyle bible blog). In addition, genetics and toxic exposure are all vitally important to understand and support/eliminate.

If appropriate we work alongside GP’s, primary care workers and other specialists to achieve a multi disciplinary approach.

As a Registered Nutritional Therapist I apply functional medicine principle in my clinic. I practice a food first approach where supplements and lab testing may follow.  There are a few cases where huge benefits may be gained by starting with this approach.
